Jump shot- A jump shot is an attempt to score a basket by jumping, usually straight up and in mid-jump, propelling the ball in an arc into the basket. As the body straightens and springs off from the ground, both arms should be straight and extended. A jump shot is also difficult to block because the shot is taken from a higher position. This shot is the most effective in open play but can be hard to do if there is a taller player in front of the shooter. The jump shot has advantages such as if the player has a quicker release then that makes the execution time faster. However, a disadvantage of the jump shot is that if the player has a lower shooting height, this means that there is less time for the shooter to aim. To do a chest pass, a player must do the following: hold the ball close to their chest; extend arms fully as the player pushes the ball; eyes should be on the receiver as the pass is made. This pass should finish with the wrists snapping inwards. The player's fingers should be pointing towards their target. An advantage of the chest pass is that it is quick and simple to do.
