Through my research of Body Movement/Kinesthetic learning, I have learned strategies to help me study and better learn material. I also learned that writing is a great way for a kinesthetic learner to learn but I myself, do not enjoy writing at all. According to Laskey and Gibson if you chew gum or move as you study, you should also do this as you take the test as it will help with recall. ADHD is often mistaken in kinesthetic learners. The learning style associated with body movement is known as Kinesthetic learning style. It is also called Tactile learning. If you use touch, action, movement and hands on work in your learning activities and this is how you learn best, then you are more than likely a kinesthetic learner. Kinesthetic learning is used with visual and auditory study techniques (Laskey and Gibson 2015). According to Laskey and Gibson a Kinesthetic learner studies best by writing, making models, and using …show more content…
I have always learned better through movement than I have from just sitting in a classroom. I can only sit and pay attention for so long before I get bored. I have never been diagnosed with ADHD but I do have some of the symptoms such as inattention and hyperactivity. I like to move around a lot and I am always doing something, I can’t just sit inside all day or I would be insanely bored. An example of kinesthetic learning for me would be walking through plays in lacrosse. It is easier for me to understand them when my team would walk through them, whereas when we would draw them up on a whiteboard in the locker room I might not run the play as smooth as I would have with a walkthrough first. Math has always been hard for me as well, but I have found that when the teacher does a problem with the class I am able to better grasp it than I would be able to when we are to take notes and practice it more at
