Middle grades students require books that help them to make sense of the many social, emotional, and intellectual concerns for students around their age. The author makes a claim that LBGTQ- themed literature could be exactly what these students need to get them interested and engaged in reading again. The article then lists the many reasons why LBGTQ- themes literature might be a great answer to this reading dilemma. The author seems to be very passionate and informed on the subject and fills the text with multiple positive logical reasons on why these types of texts need to be incorporated into middle grades curriculums. The reasons the author gives for supporting LBGTQ-themed texts for middle schoolers seems like quite the overpowering argument.
