In the 2007 La Boite Theatre Company Annual Report the objectives of the company were outlined,
La Boite Theatre Company is committed to the development, presentation and promotion of Australian Theatre as an essential part of Australian cultural life. Our purpose is to create theatre that speaks to and on behalf of our community through telling stories that call contextualise and comment upon our lived experience. (in Coman, 2007)
These intentions and vision were shaped during the eight years that Mee worked as the Artistic Director. Under Mee’s Artistic Directorship there were ‘three pillars’ put into place as a guide for the works that La Boite were to produce. The works that Mee and QMF present are shows made to tell the stories of that particular town or community. Mee explains during the ‘In Conversation’ that the shows are made as to “speak directly to its audience”. The performances are meant to cater directly to the needs and desires of the community it was made for. Referred to as “Site specific plays” Mee said that there is never any intention to attempt to travel the plays. “There would be no point in taking that play from Mt Isa, from Bowen, from Gladstone and try to produce it in Sydney or Brisbane…The Logan Project was built for Logan and it only worked for
