Every time we use new knowledge and skills in our work place, classroom, with our family or within ourselves, we are actively learning (Johnston, 2013). Each of us has different approach to doing a specific task. This is because we all have different learning patterns. The make-up of our learning patterns are composed of sequence, precision, technical reasoning, and confluence. Taking learning connections inventory enables us to know how we use each pattern (Johnston, 2013). My learning connection inventory results are: sequence 22 (use as needed), precision 25 (use first), technical reasoning 24 (use as needed), and confluence 23 (use as needed). I use sequence as needed. Sequence is very important in our everyday life. I organize my schedule, my work space, my personal things, and my life space when I need to. I am not really an organized person. I plan schedules; organize stuffs; and do my assignment a head of time when I need to. At home, I organize my stuff whenever we are expecting visitors or if it is really necessary. When it comes to doing my assignments, I only do it a head …show more content…
Applying self-regulation and metacognition is very important in order to overcome those challenges. Self-regulating will enable us to examine our own thoughts and behavior in order for us to determine which of them causing us to be unproductive. Through self-regulation, we will able to come up an alternative thoughts and behaviors that will lead us to a successful learning outcome. On the other hand, metacognition is also very essential. To be an intentional learner we need to notice, understand and regulate our thoughts and behavior before, during, and after a learning experience. Our learning patterns affects as how we metacognate. There are action phases of metacognition. These are mull, connect, rehearse, attend, express, assess, reflect, and revisit. FITting our learning patterns belongs to the phase II of metacognition patterns (Johnston, 2013). FIT is an acronym for Forge (avoid), Intensify (use as needed), and Tether (use first). We forged when we avoid using the pattern. We intensify when we use the pattern as needed. And we tether when we use the pattern first. FITting will enable us to accomplish our task or be successful in college. I have been busy now at work and I am having a hard time managing my time between my work and my online class. I think that I need to intensify my sequence in order for me to be back on track. Organizing my schedule, my work space, and my life space is what I
