Stuart Fernie is one of the most famous writers, that's why I choose his article from his own website. In this article Fernie talks about the main characters, he focuses on the way of how they act, think and gives background about each one of them. He mentions many examples, and I'm interested in Valjean character because he is the most famous character in this novel. Fernie focuses on him more than the others, he gives many numbers of examples of Valjean's heroism. This article is useful and full of information that contribute to my understanding of the novel story.

This article focus in Victor Hugo political views that are reflected in his novel. He addressed three main political themes in Les Miserables, which are; the need for social progress and treatment improvement for the poor people, the need of death penalty abolishment, and the need for prison reform. This political view was the conditions of Frances prison systems, and Hugo showed contempt towards the injustice of the law enforcement system.
