This of course goes back to the first point, if a classroom discussion is made for the assignment then it will allow all students to ask questions and seek help; making small group is good but the problem of having students not working is still a possibility, so working as a class at least means the teacher is talking most of the time, which may just get any slaking student the push they need to do the work and stay attuned to the lesson the whole time. And, if a special needs student or a student with accommodations is present it would not be a bad thing for the teacher to go one on one with them, as classroom discussion could still continue based off what the student needs help with, as it may aid another student, even without a learning problem understand the topic …show more content…
Too much of either and problems will arise. This said, depending on outside technology and outdated cultural knowledge can cause problems; this is of course a quick fix and more of a tweak to the lesson plan rather than a totally revamping of it as the last two suggestions. I believe this lesson plan should stress the importance of how to properly use outside information gathering. One such instance is this: “If students are not familiar with the above terms, have them use their textbook glossaries to help them record the definitions on this list.” (CPALMS, 2012), despite the lesson plan calling for computers it does not suggest them for tedious work like this. It would not be uncommon for a few students to find the word list of suggested prior knowledge as foreign as the current information. This fact in mind about school students, it is, in my opinion, a bit ridiculous to force those students to look through the book for the information. This is where the outdated cultural knowledge comes in, every up and coming teacher needs to realize the students they will be teaching will be brought up in a world of quick-search and technology. To suggest to a student to look through a book for answers is fruitless, if an assignment is made of it the students will resent it or just flat out not do it. High school students
