The Good Samaritan Society is one of the largest providers of senior care in the country, and so their processes are a little different than the average stand-alone facility. The Good Samaritan Society has a policy, procedure, or system in place for just about everything that could occur in one of their facilities. Due to to the nature of the working for a large organization, Libby only oversees a portion of the paperwork from her facility. In regards to reimbursement, Libby looks at the claims, accounts, and a portion of the billing space on the documentation for her facility. The remainder of the paperwork goes to The Good Samaritan’s National Campus. The National Campus ensures that all the necessary policies and procedures are followed in regards to reimbursement documentation. The National Campus also handles the appeals or denials for reimbursement. Libby said claims are often denied for reimbursement if the services are not reasonable or necessary, or if the services constitute custodial care.
