A story refers to a real or imagined account of people and events. There are several elements of a story, including a plot, setting, theme, conflict, and characters (Flaherty 3). In fictitious accounts, the plot is determined by the author while in real accounts the story is determined by decisions and events that transpired in the life of a person or people. Life can be compared to a story. The various decisions humans make determine the course of their lives, and the plot. Characters can be said to represent the different people that interact with in the course of life. Here, he is underlining the importance of spirituality and religion in one’s life. Religion and spiritually were an important part of Pi’s life, and it enabled him to endure through difficult situations.
