The core basis of writing at times is to entertain. There is a certain value in entertainment that is associated with certain genres in writing and the overall effect always goes a long way in giving literary works credibility. Written genres that are aimed at the sole purposes of entertainment while carrying out the mandate of educating society at times base their content on fiction. Works of fiction enable a writer to write without conforming to any expectations or a strict code and this enables them to deliver coherent quality that gives a cathartic effect to the reader while satisfying their inner desire to explore the realms of impossibility (Hanson, 21). For such purposes, this paper explores the work of fiction A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez to analyze it on basis of content and form in order to understand what fiction entail and if it really meets the threshold for a work of fiction.
