1. Introduction
For this assignment about ports I chose two airports: Beijing Capital International Airport and London Heathrow Airport. I chose these airports because they are both very big. Heathrow is one of the biggest in the world and Beijing transships a lot of cargo. In 2015 Beijing airport transshipped 1,831,167 tons of cargo. Beijing Capital International Airport is the main international airport serving Beijing. It is located 32 km northeast of Beijing's city center. The airport is owned by the Beijing Capital International Airport Company Limited, a state-controlled company. The airport's Airport code, PEK, is based on the city's former name: Peking.
Beijing Capital International Airport is the main hub for Air China, the flag carrier of the People's Republic of China, which flies to around 120 destinations (excluding cargo) from Beijing. …show more content…
It is also the busiest airport in Europe since 2010. Heathrow airport is very easily accessible compared to the other airports in the United Kingdom. Heathrow Express is a non-stop service direct to London's Paddington station. trains leave every 15 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to get to the station.
Heathrow Connect is a stopping service to Paddington. Trains leave every 30 minutes. By using Heathrow Connect the journey would take 27 minutes to get to Paddington. London Underground (Piccadilly line): four stations serve the airport: Terminal 2 and 3, Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 serve the passenger terminal. The journey time from Heathrow Central to Central London is around 40–50 minutes
