Rays of sunlight peered through the leaves of the trees that towered over me. I had been driving for at least five miles, squeezing my four-wheeler through every crevice it could get through. The top of the mountains were getting closer and closer, so I felt that I needed to begin my journey on foot and leave the vehicle behind. Snow began to shower down as I walked up the mountain in search of the beloved stream. At around 9:30 a.m., I took a seat on a log in a clearing and opened my canteen filled with hot stew from the previous night.
