His paranoia is what brings him to commit numerous more murders all to save a crown he realizes wasn’t even worth it to him in the end. Macbeth uses killing as a way to clear his conscious. Anyone who he suspects to know of his secrets, must die. We slowly watch the human side of Macbeth disappear. At the end when Macbeth even admits that he can no longer live this life he’s brought onto himself. We see the Macbeth from the beginning of the play come back a little and admit the wrongs he’s done. This what also makes the readers feel sympathy for Macbeth, for deep down we know a villain isn’t the kind of person Macbeth really is. We can tell the murders were based on pure fright, for when Macbeth starts to feel remorse for what he’s done. Such as when he sees Banquo’s ghost at the feast. Where once more Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth’s manhood to his face, all in attempts to get him to push on with the web of lies they’ve created. It was based off of facts. There is some truth behind all of this that created the framework for the play. Macbeth was a real king that ruled Scotland from 1040-1057. This Macbeth was well liked and the people of Scotland respected him. Shakespeare got his main facts of history from Holinshed 's Chronicles (Macbeth). He got his ideas of witchcraft from the recently crowned, King James’, book Daemonologie. A lot of the original story of Macbeth was changed for theatrical reasons. Which believe it or not, the real Macbeth’s story wasn’t an uncommon thing during this 11th century time period. Therefore, Shakespeare wanted to the make the story more entertaining. Some also believe Shakespeare added in the witchcraft to the play as a way of trying to win over the approval of the new King, King James, who everyone knew had a fascination with witchcraft. Macbeth also changed the story to make things more politically correct for his current time. It is also believed James’ family were ancestors of Banquo. If this being true, it could have given Shakespeare a good reason to make him one of the few honored characters in the play. A lot of people believe Shakespeare knew the human mind better than anyone of his time. One thing Shakespeare for sure understood was tragedy, and the effects it has not only on the person it’s effecting, but everyone around just as it did the people
