MAGICAL REALISM IN THE LIFE OF PI BY YANN MARTEL
1. Introduction:
The term “Magical realism” is defined in different ways. Magical realism in art refers to a twentieth century movement which was started by European artists after World War 1 and which was followed by a second period that began in North America a decade later. The earliest period of Magical Realism began around 1919. Magical realism is a field where magical or unreal elements play a natural part in an otherwise realistic environment .Although it is most commonly used as a literary genre, magic realism also applied to film and the visual arts.

4. Significance of the study:
The study carries a lot of significance. It provides considerable material to the reader for evaluating Arthur living in different scenario and how they interpret magical realism. They will also help in studying Magical Realism with help of literature. This study is significance in the sense that shows the simulation of Arthur works. The study will also bring harmony among the ideas of different era but go the approach of both in same. On academic level it will help the students who are interested in comparative study of literature.
5. Research Methodology:
The methodology used for current study is qualitative based on grounded theory. My present research is taken from articles and books. Sample size constitutes of one novel that is life of pi by Yann Martel.

Life of pi follows the story of Piscine Molitor Patel, known to all as Pi a deeply religious boy who grows up with his zoo-keeping family in India.
