Marshall Frank claimed that the purpose of terrorism was to punish, distract and intimidate a targeted population. His examples on the purpose of terrorism were some Islamic countries, like Iraq and Pakistan, set out to punish anyone or any organization that has been cooperating with us in the on-going conflicts, distraction occurs when the terrorist groups have our focus on one situation causing us all to look one way, while something more sinister is happening where no one is looking, and most every country in the western world are intimidated by demands being made by Muslims (Frank, 2011, para. 8). Some people are scared to death of dealing with another terrorist attack against them, so it’s better for them to relinquish their culture, morals, and integrity and let their descendants deal with the burden years from to come (Frank, 2011, para. 8). Although they both involved the cowardice act of claiming innocent lives, causing fear and violating criminal laws they are clearly define and punishable by their jurisdiction to the United States. No matter how you look at it terrorism is terrorism. Terrorism will continue to exist if we do not detect, deter, defeat war on terrorism. Terrorist don’t care about how many innocent lives they take; they want the attention of the targeted group to adhere to their demands and morals.
