Most radio is consumed on the way and from work. In later years, I believe the impact of radio was more significant than it is today. Instead of being consumed with pop music today being replayed multiple times, I think the only way to revert to semi-original radio is to tune into AM talk radio. A very controversial station which I stumbled upon was with Sean Hannity, who is in association with Fox news (a republican news station). Even though I am conservative, I do catch myself catching onto how wording his ideas plays a role. Sean Hannity seems to be an expert in portraying his ideas of political views in only showing negative outcomes and consequences of current events argued by the opposite party. While continuing my day, Hannity’s idea’s and views sit with me throughout work and school, sometimes agreeing and sometimes disagreeing just because of the way he words subjects and does not give explanations. This idea, of disagreeing with whatever political party you support, is what I believe is progress. I would consider this concept as progress is because if a famous figure say’s it, a vast majority of the listeners will agree just because of the higher position that Sean Hannity is in. The internet is the fastest, most convenient way to view news and updates from today. One of the biggest stereotypes is gender identity. In gender identity, men typically are the breadwinners of the household while the women are home cleaning or cooking. Even in modern day, it is uncommon to see a woman not having a job instead of being home but this stereotype is still being entertained. The biggest contributor of stereotypical patterns are films. Traditionally, cops are white, and gang members are the minority. Adopting this train of thought echoes through generations without even realizing it. The use of welfare, or government assistance being also associated with drug use has made it typical by the artists of media to only focus on the negatives of the minority community. Currently, one of the most important accusations of stereotyping was made by Donald Trump, a current presidential candidate. Donald Trump recently proposed a ban on all Muslim’s trying to come into the United States due to the bombings of radical terrorists. Trump is now a major influence of why racial tensions are the way they are in America. Saying outlandish remarks to ban a certain religion from entering the country is remarkable due to because that is what this country is founded on- different cultures. The real ideology behind mass media is to present real facts which include factual information. Journalist’s and media reporters have tarnished the reliability of what should be presented to the public.
