This marked a turn around because it was completely different from the classical period that was more secular. This period deviated completely from Greco-Roman values and traditions (Mainzer 10). This era was also characterized highly by the acknowledgement of Christian values and beliefs. During this time, Europe became focused on the position of the creator in everything that was going on. Unlike the classical period that was secular this period took a different focus. The importance of an individual was highly dependent on his values and beliefs. It was more important for an individual to have strong values instead of intelligence and other aspects that were considered important in the classical era. It is during this time that the church became strong since there was a lot of advocacy on morality. Therefore, the church worked to ensure that the level of morality was high among the population. The medieval era were focused on understanding the hierarchy or protocol of power in order to maintain the required balance in the society. Medieval philosophers tried to create a connection between different works in order to ensure that all individuals had a clear perspective of logical reasoning and decision-making. Although they did not have sufficient material, from Greek philosophers they did a good job of collecting materials and using them where necessary to create what was later known as modern philosophy (Mainzer 20). During this period, philosophers did not concern mostly with creating new knowledge but creating a connection between different materials to bring an understanding on morality and philosophy. The works of Boethius and Augustine were among the many that were analyzed and included in different works to form modern philosophy. This created a united set of values and system that later became important in modern Europe. One of the most important things about this period is the fact that the Roman value structure faced deconstruction and was taken over by the West Latin moral system and reasoning. In addition, a revolution welcomed the Western modernity and civilization that did not utilize the Roman cultural belief system. The medieval period is significant and is made of different periods.
