In most cases, mental illnesses occur during childhood and youth. However, most of the mental illnesses have recovery methods only for later years (Ronald C.Kessler - G. PaulAmminger 2007).
Some mental illnesses can be cured by medicine treatment, while other mental illnesses are recommended to be treated by mental therapy. There are many causes of mental illnesses which can show symptoms within months or years after a certain life experience such as depression. Some mental illnesses can be ‘’inherited in genes’’. (Personality disorders by Clarence T. Rivers 2014). This essay presents 3 different types of mental illnesses: Phobia, Manic Depression, and BOD. Moreover, it causes, symptoms and treatment:
Phobia is a type of anxiety and it is known as the most common mental illness. Phobia is an unexplained fear from an object, certain situation or an animal. The symptoms of the illness occur as a panic attack of extreme distress. Because of the varied types of the illness, there is not a specific treatment. However, support group meetings are recommended in most cases of the illness (Clarence T. Rivers 2014).
A less common mental illness is Manic Depression. 7 out of 1,000 people have Manic Depression (Boyd, J. H. & Weissman, M. W. Archs gen. Psychiat 1981). Manic Depression is a mental illness which is characterized in both extreme joy and sadness which can lead to violence, depression and anger. Consequently, medical treatment is given in order to treat the illness ( Frederick K.Goodwin - Kay R.Jamison 2007).
