America invaded Mexico briefly for imprisoning several sailors, which created anti-American feelings through Latin America. However, relations did get better over time. President Franklin D. Roosevelt adopted the Good Neighbor Policy in the 1930s. This policy lessened U.S. meddling with Mexican affairs, and withdrew troops stationed in some Latin American countries (p. 1935). The policy favored nationalism and improved relations between the U.S. and Latin America .
