The Americas were a democratic society with freedom of religion and speech. They could develop their own place and incorporate their own beliefs and ideas. They had a say in the government and opportunities. With their new freedoms and some altering beliefs the American colonies divided into three groups The New England colonies, the Middle Colonies, and The Southern colonies. Although the settlers were different in many ways, and had a variety of religious and cultural beliefs they ultimately shared a desire for freedom and their own rights. First the New England colonies, they started forming a government and over time developed more political power. The northern colonies were very family oriented settlers that focused on developing their farms. Many of the original men that settled were younger aged men that came without their family. These men stuck together and grew family like bonds with each. This helped them greatly when they began developing farms because they could work with the large group of men they lived with. Second the middle colonies, they consisted mainly of men that paid their way to the Americas, so they usually had enough money to establish themselves.
