1: Company Guiding Principles
Issue: CanGo currently lacks the guiding principles that shape the company’s goals and purpose within the industry such as a company mission, vision, and core values statement. Therefore, the company has no identity and lacks overall direction. In addition, due to the lack of clear company direction, the operational department organization struggles and suffers.
Recommendation: Document and publish a mission, vision, and core values statement. The reasoning is simple, “The mission and vision statements are critical to the strategic planning process since they provide clear, guiding principles that further define who the health center is as an organization and why the center exists.” (HRSA.gov, …show more content…
If one does not exist, the team needs to generate a business plan as a living document to be reviewed, no less than once a year, for reevaluation and updates as the company grows, evolves, and expands. The reasoning for this recommendation weighs heavily on the business plan being “a document that’s a convenient summary of the key points of the business. That includes highlights like what you sell, into what markets, through what channels, with what sales and marketing strategies. Also who’s in charge of this business, and what experience the people in the team have.” (SBA.gov, 2012, July 31) This information formalized within a business plan, will help to strengthen the direction of CanGo for the long term, while providing the much needed business acumen the company requires to survive in today’s …show more content…
CanGo needs to get a complete buy in at all levels of the company for it to succeed and be beneficial to the company. “Adhering to project management methods and strategies reduced risks, cut costs and improved success rates” (pmi.org, 2010) Additionally, by implementing this fundamental best practice, the company will more effectively harness the strengths and skills of the labor, demonstrate a culture of change with the ability to manage it, and be in a better position to successfully meet stakeholder
