When deciding on a research method, interviewers can choose from several options. Mixed methods research is one of the research methods “widely practiced and accepted in many areas of health care research” (Sale, Lohfeld, & Brazil, 2002, p. 44). “ The mixed methods studies are framed by a pragmatic approach to research” (Parylo, 2012, p.299). Quantitative and qualitative research elements, combined in the same study, fulfill the requirement of a mixed method research (Van Griensven, Moore, & Hall, 2014, p. 367). Therefore, characteristics of the mixed method include the elements of a quantitative research method as well as the qualitative research method.
