There are many different composites that go into making brake shoes and pads for vehicles. To make an informed decision I must read the literature and the companies’ advertisements to get the information that I seek. However, a lot of my personal experience comes from the trial and error system and contributes to a big part of my decision process. Over the years, I have gained personal experience with different suppliers and their products. In turn, I have created a loyalty/preference to some vendors due to their customer service. In my experience, I have found that OEM parts are overpriced. A great alternative is a parts warehouse, which in most cases can offer the same part at a more affordable cost. Most parts warehouse' offers product warranties against defective parts when the OEM does not. My preferred supplier is AutoZone, with O'Reilly Auto Parts as a second choice.
