First we all have to know that communication is not simply sender-message-receiver, but it is more complex than that (During). Also I prefer to call encoding and decoding a message than sending and receiving. Encoding a message means, converting one form of information or message to another form and decoding means interoperating that message from one form to another. There are four theories of communication of encoding and decoding. Production, circulation, distribution and reproduction. I also call them the circuit of communication (Chandler). Production is encoding. Since you talked about television, I also picked it as my example. Any story has to encode in form of discourse. This story has to go many discursive rules and sound realistically to enhance the quality. This message has to have either social or economic reason to earn a profit to the broadcasting company. The real message already tweaked for some bias reasons. When this message send through a media encoding also happens in different stands (During). There are three different hypothetical interpretative position a receiver can take to encode the message. First, dominant reading. The reader accepts and reproduce the encoding. In this case the message will be natural. Second, negotiated reading. In this case the person who decode the message partially agree with encoded message and broadly modify with that person’s personal situation and experiences. Last, oppositional. The reader completely refuses and rejects the reading and substitute to different frame of reference
