Two of my greatest strengths that I have recognized would have to be my ability to patient and exhibit empathy. At such a young age, my innate characteristics of patience and empathy allowed me to mentor and support my aunt when she was most vulnerable. My ability to be empathetic will contribute authenticity to my professional communication style, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. With such a trait, as I develop an enhanced understanding of what it means to be a clinical social worker, I will easily connect with future clients, peers, colleagues and professors, remain positive throughout ethical dilemmas, and effortlessly collaborate with others and vision every client as myself in a different skin. On the other hand, my ability to be patient will allow me to work to develop a comprehensive skill of cultural competence. I am firm believer that cultural competence is a foundation to enriching my career, a building block of sorts.
