Since one may have trouble paying attention to somebody this may cause annoyance or make the person not likeable. For example, people like being paid attention to when they are speaking and if they feel ignored, they will most likely not feel like talking to the person again since they assume they will be ignored. As a result, multitasking could cost one their social life. “Do two or more things simultaneously, and you'll do none at full capacity” (Keim). Therefore, if one is having dinner with a friend while they’re on the phone on social media or texting someone else, they will make the friend feel as if they are not important enough that one cannot set down their phone to have a conversation with them. Since the brain is scattered and trying to focus on all several tasks at once, the brain is bound to make mistakes. “Although we often assume that our memories fail at the moment we can’t recall a fact or concept, the failure may actually have occurred earlier, at the time we originally saved, or encoded, the memory.” (Paul) Annie Murphy Paul is explaining that since one may be distracted trying to finish multiple tasks at a time they will repeat mistakes over and over again.
