After many military defeats, King Emmanuel dismissed on July 25, 1943. In September of 1945 the Germans rescued Mussolini and made him organize a puppet Social Republic in northern Italy. on April of 1945 Mussolini was shot by Italian resistance fighters while trying to escape to Switzerland with his mistress. Few Italians regretted the overthrow of the Fascist regime.
Another example of fascism was in croatia. Poglavnik Ante Pavelić, leader of the infamous Ustaše movement, came to power in 1941 as the Croatian puppet leader under the control of Nazi Germany. Under the indirect control of Germany, the Ustaše regime was based heavily upon both upon clerical fascism and the Italian model of fascism, with elements of racial integrity and organic nationalism drawn from Nazism.
I think mussolini didn't have any particular motives other than the fact that he wanted power and he maybe even felt like what he was doing was right and probably made such a convicting argument that other people agreed with
