Well done! Keep up the good work. Rafiah has worked hard on her written skills and can use a range of imaginative language in her writing to engage the reader. She uses a range of punctuation in her writing appropriately and her spellings are mostly accurate. Rafiah’s presentation is very good and she takes pride in her work.…
After each paper I write, I notice the progress I have made with my writing. I am able to continue improving on many aspects of my writing, but each time I finish an essay, I realize how much more efficient the process has become for me. In this analysis, I will explain my assertions and assess the things I have done well, along with the aspects I can continue to improve on for the next time. The National Anthem is a very powerful song, and like many other Americans, I have heard it being played before sporting events on television and at my school for my entire life.…
During this summer session of ENGL101A, I have learned multiple ways to express myself through my writing. In fact, before signing up for this class, I did not know the proper way to compose an academic essay for a particular audience, and how to properly cite my sources. Nevertheless, after the short summer session, I am able to define my purpose and audience, analyze critically any piece of information, and write with proper citations and fewer grammatical errors with confidence. Through the short time of 5 weeks, I learned how to focus on my audience as well as how to define the purpose of my papers as academically as possible.…
“The Power of One” also demonstrated my improved method of writing my introduction and conclusion paragraphs. I was sure to begin my essay in an interesting way by opening with a rhetorical question. On top of that I introduced the idea of “the power of one” and continued this idea by concluding my essay with it as well. In addition, in “Shift to Reality” I feel my paragraph development was strong and thorough as I examined the depth at which William Golding brings his novel to a satisfying conclusion. On the other hand, I still feel I struggle with sentence structure and awkward wording as shown in my ALS Ice Bucket Challenge essay.…
The barrier language that I have between Hmong and English is what makes my writing difficult to understand from the start of the school year, not only that, but also just me trying to throughly write an explanation of what I have thought of in mind. Sometimes it doesn’t come out on the paper as I have, have in my thoughts. Which in return create flaws in my level one, two, or three writing paper that affect my writing skills. The flaws that I have slightly improve on my writing: create a clear and stronger thesis statement, subject- verb agreement, and transitioning. Constructing a firm claim and allowing the reader to be able to identify which position I’ve take through my writing by creating a rough draft of what I am going to say in…
This week is the most stressful week that I ever experienced. I have so many topics I still need to write for my paper and I already plan all my available writing time for this week, but things always come out surprisingly! The MOSL test and the Flipped Day took so many time, I have to change my original plan again. I have tried to do my writing at home, but because of many things, I was not able to get a lot done on the weekdays and I have to prepare for my final exam for my college now class this Saturday.…
Over the last four essays, my ability to write has improved exponentially from the beginning of the year. Through the four essays I have learned valuable skills that will be the support for future essays. On the two beginning essays my ability to use vocabulary and other valuable skills was improving. By being supplied by information from the instructor, and fellow classmates I was able to spot my weaknesses in my writing and improve where improvement was needed. As the semester progress each essay improved upon the last as self reflection and reflection from others was used wisely.…
For my portfolio, I compiled my best writing pieces from this class into one folder. I chose which works were the best not based on grade alone, but on how they represent my writing style and how it has evolved and progressed throughout the course of this semester. I chose one timed, 500 word, in-class essay, my best personal essay, my best out-of-class essay with MLA documentation, and my best paper with an annotated bibliography. In this short essay I will explain why each of these represent me as a writer and show growth in my writing experience.…
Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…
Altogether, my writing has become strong from days by days that I have started to learn from my mistake. All of my insecure, self-conscious, and doubtful about writing was gone because I realize nothing can be better if there are no encouragement to act on it. In writing, I have experienced to let ideas and thoughts draw down on paper and find the right direction to coherent all of the context together. In the meantime, I will continue to write because I believe the more I write the better I will be and my goals will be sooner to achieve when I become successful in the…
I really have to concentrate when writing to be able to fully complete me sentences. I am satisfied with my overall experiences as a writer, because I have exceeded my self-expectations when typing or writing, but there is always room for improvement. Especially in sentence order and correct grammar such as commas. The skills I acquired this semester helped further develop my skills as a writer.…
Throughout the entirety of this English 101 course, I have seen my skills as a writer grow. In the beginning of the school year, my writing fell short of my expectations, but as I continued to work and learn the principles of writing, I have written papers that I am proud to say are mine. Among the aspects of my writing I have improved, the best strives are seen within my my counter arguments and overall strength and coherency of my papers. To begin, when looking at a paper I wrote in August on necessity of first drafts, there were large gaps in my elaboration, bringing concerns as to whether I was arguing and proving a point or merely summarizing what Lamott, the author of the article, originally said. When attempting to argue my evidence, I stated,…
My Reflection of this Semester Throughout this semester I was approached with several challenging objectives that caused me to think critically while writing. Writing has never been a strong point of mine. When I came to The University of Alabama, I was apprehensive that I did not acquire the necessary skills to take a college English class. Auspiciously, I feel that I have met the desirable course outcomes and expanded my knowledge on writing.…
Learning through Writing As my first year of college comes to an end I can see how much I have improved throughout the year, especially in my writing. Throughout this year I have seen how my writing go from struggling on the start of it, to being able to start off quickly using different methods to finish a full, well written paper. I can see the difference this first year has made with all the techniques I’ve learned. These new techniques I have learned throughout 5A and 5B have become really useful when it comes to my writing.…
Over this semester, that is soon to come to a close, there have been many opportunities to watch growth not only within my writings, but also within the approach to the process as a whole. As I look back over my essays that I have compiled these past few months, I cannot help but notice how much I have grown as a writer and interpreter of other’s works. As this is true, there are also various different strengths and weaknesses involved. Both the strengths and weaknesses can range from various different things, but all together it never defers from the quality that can be produced in the end. It is truly interesting to go back and evaluate all the work from the past, and it can only provide insight for continued growth in the future.…
