In the story My Life as a Bat the author states, ““Vampire films have always seemed ludicrous to me, for this reason but also for the idiocy of their bats—huge rubbery bats, with red Christmas-light eyes and fangs like a saber-toothed tiger’s, flown in on strings, their puppet wings flapped sluggishly like those of an overweight and degenerate bird.” (Pg. 73) Voluminous movies that include bats, the bats are usually portrayed as malicious animals. The national geographic states, “For starters, bats are not nefarious creatures, as they're often portrayed around Halloween, said Rob Mies” In fact, the bats are extremely helpful. For example, in World War II bats were used as bombs. Also, as stated in the Animal Rescue site, “Vampire bats, who are the only mammals known to feed on the blood, have a natural anticoagulant in their saliva, called draculin. Turns out, draculin might be able to help people survive stokes by breaking up blood clots.” As shown, the bats draculin helped people survive stokes.
