Formal assessments provide a great way for the teacher and administrators to see if a specific student is ready for the next grade. If done in the middle of the school year, formal assessments can pinpoint what areas the students are struggling in, thus giving the teacher areas on which they need to focus more heavily. Informal assessments are great for figuring out if students are grasping individual concepts as they can be done quickly, even without pencil and paper. This lets the teacher know if the students are comfortable with what they have learned that week or even that day. There are many benefits to incorporating technology into your classroom but there is also benefits to being able to read about a subject from a textbook. Technology does play an important role however, and should be incorporated accordingly. Teachers can use something as simple as a projector to show a worksheet, or they can use a smart board to foster interactive learning in their classroom. This technology allows the students to engage with the lesson more than just reading out of a textbook or listening to a teacher.
