The purpose of taking the DiSC personality test and the Emotional Intelligence test was to understand how I currently interact and work with colleagues, how colleagues and others communicate with me, and how I could improve my interactions. The DiSC test is based on the DISC (Dominance, Inducement, Submission, and Compliance) Theory is a four attribute behavioral model to examine the behavior of individuals within a specific environment. (Jang, 2008) According to Phycology Today is the capacity to reason about emotions and emotional information, and of emotions to enhance thought.” (Mayer, 2009) These assessments should allow for an internal view of my interactions, how people interact with me and find what I can improve. …show more content…
According to maetrix, a score of four is recognition, as it suggests, I recognize my choices regarding behaviors. A level six is exaggeration, which is exaggerated behaviors and an aggressiveness in responses. A level two is wisdom, which is an awareness of emotions and distractions and keeping them under control (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004).
Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is an individual’s ability to read and understand their emotions, recognize their impact on work performance and relationships, the ability to give a realistic evaluation of strengths and limitations and have a positive and strong sense of self-worth (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). Social- Awareness which is understanding others and taking an active interest in their concerns; ability to, build decision networks and navigate politics, and recognizing and meeting the needs of others (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). Again, I scored a six, which does not really surprise me since other people usually bother me. You will often hear me say, “I hate stupid people.” or “I don’t like people that much.” So, since I already know this about myself finding areas to improve will no doughtily increase my social awareness.
Relationship Management. Relationship Management is inspiring and guiding groups and individuals, to strengthen and support the other’s abilities, use positive strategies, initiating new ideas, use effective conflict management, building and maintaining relationships, and effectively use teamwork and collaboration (Emotional Intelligence Test, 2004). I scored a two in relationship management, which genuinely surprises me since my social-awareness was at level six. I believe that my relationship management will improve as I work to improve social-awareness.
Overall, I have a lot of work to do to become competent in emotional intelligence. Although, I do believe that there is some conflicts in the assessment and I research and become more familiar with emotional intelligence I will bring my perceived conflicts more in line with each area previously
