We looked into options but initially settled on an iWalk, which was an apparatus that allowed me to be able to walk with both legs. It looked like a prosthetic from the front, but my leg was bent at the knee ninety degrees behind me and my aircast rested on a knee pad. All I had to do was move my thigh in a walking motion and I could walk, free of armpit chafing. I was fondly known as peg leg at my Junior prom, but at least I could dance. I will admit, it was an extremely handy around the house but the judgemental looks I received and feelings I felt when in public didn’t make up for its convenience.
