My trainer, Ethan, stood behind the counter talking to a co-worker. He is a taller guy and very young for how experienced he was. I greeted him and talked to him about the plane and the flight plan as I checked the weather and weight and balance of the airplane. After all the checks finished up I walked out of the building to the plane for its pre-flight check. I got up on the wing and opened the door. Flipped on the master switch along with the landing lights, navigation lights, strobe lights and pitot heater. I got back out and checked everything I had turned on worked and got back in and shut it off. I then dropped the flaps and did the main check. Fuel tanks, wings oil, brakes, tires, and flight surfaces. I thought about every little way each one could go wrong while I checked
