Of which I was one of the selected. The result from this 8:00 am start time on a Friday in September was all due to the advisor for the trip, Kim Kochak. Months before the trip ensued Kim was brainstorming extensively with twenty other advisors from both campuses. The planning for the retreat included detailed logistics especially for the, transportation, special diets, cabin arrangements, staff assignments, and supplies.

My group rotated through a series of team building events. The team building events not only worked on our team building skills, getting acquainted with each other, but loosened everyone up to be comfortable enough to build relationships. The following activities included, Jedi Numbers, Mingle Mingle, The Human Knot and Group Juggle. One of my favorite exercises was Mingle Mingle: It was a short and quick, fun, easy way to quickly get all of the students acquainted; also, the first thirty second exercise was to greet each person in the following group as if they were royalty. Three years prior to this hike three dozen campers hiked along the same trail that we would be taking; however, their hike lasted for two extra hour because they had gotten lost, due to the rain and their GPS’s malfunction. The previous hikers were so exhausted that they had to be driven back to the camp. Kim with the other advisors were intent on not letting this incident happen again. To make sure that the entire group would not get lost Kim set a plan in motion. To have one counselor at the front of the line and the other at the back.
