The guidelines that stood out to me when reading the National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC) is nutrition and physical activity for cancer survivor patient. Cancer and cancer treatment can be very challenging to patients, especially when it comes to nutrition and physical activity because of the side effect of the disease and treatment. Patients could experience loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting and fatigue from cancer and cancer treatment. However, eating healthy and staying active is very necessary for their overall wellbeing. One of the reasons is because individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer are at a significantly higher risk of developing second primary cancers, and may also be at an increased risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. (NGC, 2012) Every five years the American Cancer Society (ACS) always produce a new cancer guidelines associated with nutrition and physical activity (Berdan et al., 2014) Guidelines are established to prevent those diseases that are especially important for cancer survivors..
