There were about one hundred ladies in attendance, and everyone seemed engaged and attentive to her message. Her personal experiences and visual examples made her information much easier to understand and helped the audience to be able to take what they learned and apply it to their lives. Additionally, her diction and dialect made her speech more receptive. As African American women, there is a certain attitude and confidence she displayed that made her more like a friend or a sister of the black women that she spoke to rather than just an intellectual expert. On the other hand, seeing her throughout the speech was a challenge. She chose to speak from the floor where the audience was sitting rather than standing on the stage. While standing among the audience made it easier to interact with them, it made it much harder to see her visual demonstrations. Occasionally, the audience to become disengaged and talk over the speaker. However, this did not hinder the information that she gave
