You can hear the screaming and the yelling, and—grenades.” In addition to the failure of Khe Sahn was The Tet Offensive. 70,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launched coordinated attacks on more than 100 cities in South Vietnam. This attack had caught US troops off guard, however because the North Vietnamese had spread their troops so thin across many attack points, we could counter most of the attacks. Even with the counters the surprise attack was far too effective, we had lost the battle. Unfortunately, news coverage was there showing the destruction the Northerners had done to us.
