Even though all behaviors were ideally focused on the patient's comfort and reliability, not all of the patients from the experiment were satisfied. Therefore, communication is not just a mere conversation between two people, but it is a special interaction between different people that requires respect and reflection on each other's thoughts. Knowing the patient's abilities makes clinical communication more helpful. Examples of knowing the patient's abilities include awareness of the patient, taking the patient's perspective, and reflecting on the patient's responses. Caring the patient can also be referred to as “metacognitive”. This word means a skill that includes thinking about one's thoughts and feelings as well as the patient's. Therefore the word "metacognitive" applies to healthcare providers as well. For the healthcare providers, simply listening to what the patient says is not the best way to solve of the patient's problem. The actual focus has to be centered on reflecting the patient's request and thoughts. For example, a doctor should not be simply listening to what the patient says. First, the doctor needs to start a conversation with enough questions in order to understand the patient's chief problem. After realizing the main problem, the doctor can give solution to the patient while keeping a soft tone voice to prevent his or her patient from panic. Thus communication in the medical education is “metacognitive” and the article clearly describes the importance of caring in the medical education.
