The failure to continue with their government under Ralph, caused them degenerate as they were now under no government and free to do as they please because of Jack. Personally, this novel taught me that rules are always necessary despite how they make you feel restricted. Rules, Laws, and Values help us maintain order and keep us safe from becoming complete savages. I gained a new perspective towards the law and how crucial its existence is to Humanity.
