Ocelots are classified as carnivores. They have fangs that support their carnivorous desires. Their pointed fangs devour their prey as they kill it, and they use their sharp back teeth to tear their prey. They do not have teeth suitable for chewing, so they tear their prey and eat whole parts of it. Their diet consists mainly of mice, rabbits, rats, birds, snakes, lizards, fish frogs, opossums, and armadillos. They are chiefly solitary animals, meaning the majority of the time, they are alone. Thus, it is rare when Ocelots hunt together. Ocelots mainly hunt their prey on the ground, but will occasionally catch birds in trees.

An Ocelot’s digestive system is more suited for handling raw meat and bones compared to a human’s digestive system. The Ocelot is not going to become sick when eating raw meat that contains bacteria. Additionally, food is inserted mouth where it is broken down by the teeth. The food then proceeds down the esophagus and then it is directed into the stomach. In the stomach, the food is broken down more using the stomach acids that break down the food. Later it moves into the intestine where nutrients from the food is absorbed. After the food travels through the intestine, it moves into the colon where waste is removed. The food, soon coming to the end of its journey then moves in the rectum and leaves through the anus. This process is similar to the one of a human
