I am eager to start my career as a graduate student and look forward to learning more in depth about occupations in the field of Nutrition. As a graduate student, I will also continue to strive in the field of research and innovative solutions to the health problems communities face today. After becoming a registered dietitian, my immediate next goal is to become a lactation consultant. My long-term goal is to work for either a Health Department or a WIC clinic where I can work directly with people who are most at risk. As a Nutrition professional, I will be able to inform, educate, and ensure that people get the health care services they need when otherwise unavailable. I have been actively engaged in this program since 2013 and can sincerely say that it has been an organization that has contributed towards my academic success. As a nutrition student, I have been a member of the Undergraduate Nutrition Student Association since January 2014. One memorable experience I participated in, as a member of UNSA, was volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee in Maryville. It was amazing to see how the food bank was operated by volunteers that worked together to bring about what some might think impossible. I am also a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Knoxville Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. My membership to these professional organizations has been since June of 2014. Other professional organizations that I am a member of include the Society of Nutrition Education (SNEB) and Behavior and the National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), both of which I joined in 2015. I have had the honor of attending conferences as a member of EAP and SNEB.
