One of the key issue is restricted ability or willingness of the government to implement health policies. Powerful economical forces does not want to take the responsibility to think about whether the food distributed is healthy or not. Fast food outlets distributes food that are predominantly high in sugar and fat, which lacks the dietary needs required for an individual to stay healthy. This includes premiums and goodies in fast food outlets which has increased recently to attract children and adolescence to buy their products by providing something free for every purchase. Similarly, soft drinks are also a big part of obesity problems. Consumption of drinks that contains high amounts of sugar such as Coca-cola contains high calories which can lead to weight gain and obesity in both children and adults. National Health Survey states that approximately 7.4 million adults and over 30% of Australian children and adolescence are overweight or obese due to junk foods and sugary drinks. Even-though it is difficult to stop food industries to distribute fatty foods, however possible actions can be carried out by the government by increasing tax on these unhealthy commodities and subsidising the cost of healthy food in supermarkets and green grocers. Globally, sedentary lifestyle leads to an increment of physical inactivity, in terms of jobs that does not requires much physical activity, urbanisation as well as transportation. Sedentary lifestyle and substantial reduction in everyday physical activity increase all causes of mortality, doubling the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and obesity. Physical inactivity contributes to global obesity epidemic which rises the rates of chronic diseases worldwide. On the findings published in The Lancet in 2014, the US accounts for 13% of the number of obese people which is approximately 5% of the world’s population in comparison to low and middle income countries especially in Middle Eastern countries. One of the best ways to improve the health policy is by, encouraging the general public to participate in programmes that promotes activities in schools and workplaces. To improve and to increase participation in physical activity, the possible action that should be implemented by the government is planning approaches enable all community to engage in active recreation and active transport through building street amenities, walking and cycling paths.
