Although “Voices” (2005) is written by a woman the narration she uses is first person while “Human behavior and the social environment, theory and practice” (2007) is in the third person. The article “Voices: On becoming old women” (2009) is based primarily on the views and feelings of women and what its like to become older as a woman, while society treats you like you’re a person walking with an expiration notice. “Human behavior and the social environment, theory and practice” (2007) takes a general approach on aging where the author takes a throughout examination at the whole process of getting older and what that entails. Another difference is the article on women aging takes a negative approach towards how young women view older women, the competition to stay young, dealing with rejection, and being brainwashed. “Top 10 reasons why woman should avoid getting old” would of suited this article as the title much more effectively. The article on the general approach on aging is more informative and positive. The article provides a caution for each area it addresses to better prepare for aging into old age. “Human behavior and the social environment, theory and practice” (2007) goes into detail with poverty, healthcare, mental health, retirement, and inequalities just to name a few. This article focuses on how to age gracefully and knoweledgeablely vs the womans article where it seems aging is a competition among the younger people. While “Human behavior and the social environment, theory and practice” (2007) addressed serious issues such as disengagement theory and Alzheimers “Voices: On becoming old women” (2009) goes into more detail about competition between young and old
