For example, the bible states, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you that I have set before your life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore chose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, that you may cling to Him” (Deut. 30: 19-20). In other words, this informs the believer that he has given the tools (the bible, prayer and fasting) to make the right choices. He also said that if we follow and obey it, and the blessing will fall on the next generation. Do. So many times we have done all the six steps listed above, but we do have to take charge. God wants us to take action, to take positive steps that will lead us to perusing a righteous life. Our trust in Christ should give us the confidence to step forward. Whether we walk, stumble or fall; Christ has a safety net to catch us.
Being a believer is a tough thing in this age. There are so many influences from a worldly view that may enable us to back-slide or forget our commitment to the Lord. One may find it difficult to stand for what is right.
In my opinion, my coming to Christ as a child was beneficial, and I learned a great deal from the teaching. My obedience came mainly out of my fear of the Lord. Even before I knew the word, I feared God’s wrath. Later, I learned that who He loves, He chastise. My reverence for the Lord has made me make some choices that I did not want to make, but it was for my good.
In summary, I found the items listed above very insightful. It is best to consult God when making any decision. The bible is the most tangible resource, given to man by the Master. I realize that I do have free will and choices. The steps of a good man or ordered by the Lord. (Psalms 37: 23-24) Christians must allow him to help.
