Noone has the right to call these procedures safe. One might say your chances are better under a professional instead of back alleys as far as being monitored and treatments of care and directives as you are released ,but, as many has died from office visits as well visits settings to back street and self- inflicting harm to cause a termination/abortion. Statistics states according to Center for Reproductive Rights, Breaking the Silence: The Global Gag Rule’s Impact on Unsafe Abortion, (2003) that twenty five percent of girls and women die and fifty percent are treated for complications from abortions . Possible Objections: People believe that an abortion is safe if the life of the Mother is in danger: When the life of a pregnant person is in danger and she is having complications during her pregnancy such as an Ectopic pregnancy. An emergency surgery has to be performed. The safest way is to save the mother and abort the fetus. Or both could die. I would like to believe the success rate is not on the abortion but results in the hope of saving a life. This isn’t safe abortion; this is a life or death situation! Women have advanced from Medical Technology and have greater access to higher quality services: Women are educated on abortions and are given the knowledge needed to make a decision. They have better services due to complications that can easily be treated with medications or other treatments. They are treated with care and are told that statistics states the early the abortion the less risks, from the National Abortion Federation, Safety of Abortion, (2005). Procedures has advanced since the since the Supreme Court reestablished legal abortion in the U.S. in the 1973 Roe v. Wade. There are advanced medications such as the Morning after pill, two drugs that will cause a fetus to dispel from the uterus and of course the comforting of staff that makes it easier on the female. Yet these women are experiencing the same complications, including death. Although I do not agree with the safety rates of abortion, it is true that aborting a baby after twenty weeks of pregnancy, the risks of death from childbirth and abortion are about the same.
