The two most common tests for ovarian reserve are AMH testing and an antral follicle count.
• AMH testing assesses your levels of antimüllerian hormone. This information tells your physician how many eggs you have in your ovaries. These hormone levels remain stable throughout the month, so you can undergo AMH testing at any time during your cycle.
• Antral follicle count allows your physician to count the number of egg-containing follicles in your ovaries. The results of testing tell your physicians how many eggs you have left and provide information about how you will respond to fertility medication. This procedure is achieved using a transvaginal ultrasound at the beginning of your cycle.
Ultimately, the results of ovarian reserve testing tell you and your physician how likely you are to get pregnant compared to other women in the same age group. No matter what your test results say there are fertility treatments available to help you become a mother.
