WHAT IS PARKINSON’S DISEASE? It is a brain disorder affecting brain cells in the brain. Parkinson’s affects neurons in an area of the brain called the substantia nigra that produce dopamine (dopamine neurons). As dopamine level falls, people develop uncontrollable shaking (tremor) in their hands and body.

There are other symptoms for the secondary motor. But not all people with Parkinson’s experience it like: Drooling, Cramping, Difficulty swallowing and Poverty of movement (decreased arm swing)…etc.

1. The loss of the sense of smell
2. Having problems in sleep
3. Mood disorder
4. Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure when standing up)

Till now the cause is unknown but many experts suggested that the disease is caused by a set of genetic and environmental factors.
Genetic factors in terms of mutation and inheritance. Mutation in the DNA can cause Parkinson’s disease. In addition, if there is a history in the family for example a parent or a sibling with the Parkinson’s disease, the percentage for inheriting the disease is higher. Some scientists suggested that Parkinson’s disease is caused by environmental factors. Environmental factors like: pesticides, drinking well water and rural living.
