Patrick Henry I’m Patrick Henry and I am an Anti-Federalist because I am strongly against the Constitution. I didn't like the fact that it didn't have a Bill Of Rights for the states, and I feared that it gave the government way too much power. I thought that it would trample the rights of the states. I opposed the creation of a stronger U.S. federal government and I now I am opposing the ratification of the constitution.
I am ashamed to see that this is even becoming an option when I; myself fought so hard to get us independence. How can I support a document that was created that is too hard for the people to understand, It puts the entire nations power in one man’s hand, It doesn’t protect our individual natural rights. The colonies tried everything they could to make amends, but nothing worked, therefore the action was needed. "There is no longer any room for hope. I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of Hosts is all that is left us!" What I’m trying to explain is that we need to fight for our rights and never give up. Virginia was the largest and most powerful colony of the 13 colonies and I convinced the House of Delegates in Virginia with my ‘Give me Liberty or Give me Death’ speech to declare independence and go to war against Britain. Without Virginia, there would have been no revolution. That was the turning point of the war. I was responsible for getting the war underway more than any other founding
