The time was 10.19pm. The large traffic light rested at red for what seemed like a century. I quickly turned my head in both directions, looking left and right. I couldn’t see a single motor vehicle at all. I sighed. I was always late. Looking into the shiny rear view mirror a saw a mess of myself. My brown hair was unruly and my lipstick was smudged. After what seemed like ages, the light finally turned green. My driverless car shot forward into the night. I suddenly saw a silver bug climb my window. It stared at me with big horrific green eyes. I had never seen anything like it before. I immediately rolled the window down and flicked the metallic bug on the road and winded the window back up.

It used to be a bright white house, but with age the paint began to chip and peel away. The old roof had so many missing tiles it made me wonder why my parents still lived in this old place.
I saw a small signed on the door as I approached the house. It read ‘Welcome.’
I took a deep breath and turned the handle.
The living area looked nearly identical as the last time I was here. The small brown couch was against the yellow wall and the wooden coffee table was exactly in the middle. It wasn’t a very pretty house at all. It made me want to run out and go to my modern apartment. The paint on the wall was peeling.
“Hello, anyone home?” I asked nervously. “Sorry for being so late.”
I turned around to close the door and felt a cold breeze hit my bare neck. I spun around to see my mother. She was wearing a beautiful floral dress. She was staring at me with her big green eyes. My mother just stood there, looking at me. She had a smile plastered to her …show more content…
I called after her. What on Earth was wrong with her? She has never run after her hip surgery and she was acting so weird. I anxiously walked into the dining room and immediately looked at the table. There was all this untouched food just lying there. There was meat and potatoes and cakes all plated up nicely. But none of it had been even touched. Who is this all for? I thought to myself. I was so confused. I didn’t know what was happening.
I hear a sound from downstairs. It was gradually getting louder and louder. It was footsteps. They kept getting louder and louder until the wooden door swung open. I jumped. Standing there was my mother, still with a plastered smile on her face.
“Everyone’s waiting for you downstairs.” My mum said loudly.
It was the first time I had heard her speak. She sounded different somehow. Maybe with age your voice changes too.
“Ok…” I said as I looked down into the darkness of the basement. I couldn’t see anyone at all. Maybe it was a surprise from all my family. I tried to think of why my mother wanted me down in the basement.
I slowly and carefully walked towards the door.
“Are you sure they are down there? I don’t see anyone.” I said, my voice wobbling.
“Yes, off course they are down in the basement. All of them. Every single bit of them.” She
