My siblings and I had wanted a dog for years, and when we finally got one around my 13th birthday, we couldn't believe it. Our parents couldn’t keep us away from the puppy; all we wanted to do was cuddle and play with her. Upon my dad's suggestion, we named her Phoebe. One afternoon, after having her for a few months, I was sitting at the kitchen island, hunched over my homework. I could feel the yellow light above me giving me a headache, and my back ached from sitting at the table for so long. I could hear the clock on the wall ticking loudly.

I slipped the leash around my wrist and gave her a pet between the ears, feeling her fuzzy fur between my fingers.
"Aww, how cute! How could Olivia not like walking her?" I wondered as I watched Phoebe look up at me and squinted her eyes in enjoyment.
Olivia, my younger sister, refused to walk the dog and would only take her out when our parents forced her to. She would always make the excuse that she doesn’t have the time, but somehow, she could always find time to pet Phoebe and give her treats. However, I didn’t mind doing the work because I liked getting some fresh air and anything that involves a bouncing ball of fluff is enjoyable. Also, since I had been taking care of Phoebe, my parents let her sleep in my room!
"Oh, I can't forget these!" I remembered as I grabbed a few bone-shaped treats out of the jar sitting on the counter. "She's well behaved most of the time with a harness, but we always see a squirrel and it drives her nuts. She is still a puppy, after all."
